I moved to Great Falls in 1989 at the age of 22 as a flight instructor and commercial pilot for Holman Aviation. My experience as a pilot taught me the importance of paying attention to detail and thorough planning. I quickly found a love for the beauty of our state from unique perspective high above our mountains and plains. As your Representative, I work hard to build local businesses like Holman Aviation and to protect Montana’s natural beauty.
To spend more time with my two oldest children, Tanner and Rachael, I took a position administering group homes for Gateway Recovery Center, an alcohol and drug treatment center in Great Falls. I learned an appreciation and respect for people from all socioeconomic backgrounds. It is important to provide opportunities for everyone to succeed through hard work and accountability.
I worked briefly in Cheyenne, Wyoming for the University of Wyoming as an outside evaluator of mental health programs administered by the State Department of Health and Human Services. I was responsible for evaluating the success of these programs and the effective use of state and federal funds. I used this experience in the Legislature to ask the tough questions of department administrators and ensure the effective and efficient use of taxpayer dollars.
For the past ten years, I have been the Executive Director of Rural Dynamics, Inc., a statewide organization focusing on developing the economic security of Montana’s working class citizens. Based in Great Falls, RDI provides programs that help families earn, keep, and grow their finances. I have spent considerable time at the legislature during my tenure advocating for Montana families to ensure their interests are represented. As your representative, I have utilized my experience to advocate for Montana families, the community, and members of our district.
I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Business Management at the University of Great Falls in 2001. I went on to graduate with honors from the University of Wyoming earning a Master’s Degree in Public Administration. I have volunteered on several local, state, and national boards including the United Way of Cascade County, the Cascade County DUI Task Force, NeighborWorks Montana, The Children’s Museum of Montana, the Montana Budget and Policy Center, the Montana Nonprofit Association, the Alliance for Youth, and the National Foundation for Credit Counseling. I have also taught public finance as an adjunct professor at the University of Great Falls graduate school.
